Fees nobody quoted
The cart shows a product price and a shipping line. The duty, tax and handling charges arrive later, often as a payment request when the courier is already at the door.
Pre-launch · early access open
Dropo is customs and landed-cost software for shipping into Canada. Classify every product, show the full duty-and-tax total at checkout, and hand clean entry data to licensed Canadian customs brokers. Your buyer pays once, up front, with no bill waiting at the door.
Illustrative example, not a quote: item value $120.00, duty $14.40, GST/HST $17.47, brokerage and fees $11.50, total landed cost $163.37 paid at checkout, then the shipment shows as cleared.
The problem
Selling to Canadians is easy until the parcel reaches the border. Duty, taxes and fees that the buyer never saw at checkout show up afterwards, and that is where good orders go bad.
The cart shows a product price and a shipping line. The duty, tax and handling charges arrive later, often as a payment request when the courier is already at the door.
Buyers who did not expect to pay anything more may decline delivery. The parcel travels home, the merchant absorbs the freight both ways, and the customer is gone.
Shoppers who suspect hidden costs often leave rather than find out. Showing the whole price early turns an unknown risk into a number they can decide on.
How it works
Plug Dropo into your store or logistics platform once. Every Canada-bound order follows the same clean line.
Each product is matched to an HS tariff code from its title, description and category. You can review and override any result, and the code travels with the item from then on.
One API call returns the full landed cost: duty, GST/HST/PST, brokerage and fees, itemized and ready to display.
The buyer sees and pays the all-in total up front, delivered duty paid. Nothing is left to collect at the door.
Dropo prepares clean customs data and documents, licensed Canadian customs brokers handle the entry, and you can follow it through to release.

For developers
Send the items and the destination, get back a classified, itemized landed cost you can render at checkout. Platform plugins for store platforms are planned on top of the same API.

Who it is for
US and international online stores selling to Canadian shoppers. Show the real total at checkout, keep conversion honest, and stop paying to ship refused parcels home.
Move mixed, multi-client volume across the line with consistent data. One classification and cost layer for every shipper you serve.
Give thousands of sellers a single, predictable landed-cost answer, so every listing shows a price the buyer can actually pay.
Also useful for Canadian importers who want to cost a shipment and prepare clean customs data before it arrives.

FAQ
No. Dropo is software: it classifies products, calculates landed cost and prepares clean customs data. Dropo is not itself a licensed customs broker. The customs entry is filed by licensed Canadian customs brokers that Dropo works with.
It means the duty, taxes and fees are settled before delivery, so the buyer pays one total at checkout instead of a second bill when the parcel arrives.
Dropo suggests an HS tariff code from the product title, description and category. You can review the suggestion and override it, and the confirmed code is reused for the landed-cost calculation and the customs data.
No. The calculator on this page is an illustrative example with simplified rates. It is not a quote. Real duty depends on the HS code, the country of origin, applicable trade agreements and current rules.
Dropo is API first. Platform plugins for popular store platforms are planned, but nothing is available to install yet. Early access starts with the API.
Dropo is pre-launch and there is no public date yet. People on the early-access list hear first and help shape the API.
